Rape culture is deeply woven into the fabric of our society. It is a culture that normalizes sexual violence, victim blaming, slut shaming, sexual objectification, trivialization of rape and generally causes rape to be pervasive due to societal attitudes about gender and sexuality. The Consent Workshop aims to change that.

The Consent Workshop was created to continue breaking the silence against sexual abuse through the provision of consent education and resources. The Founder of TCW, Uche Umolu, started this movement as a result of an online #MeToo revolution- breaking the silence of sexual abuse in our society.

TCW begun by asking young men and women that have suffered from any form of sexual violence to open up about their experiences. The aim of the consent workshop is creating safe spaces for survivors to revel in their truth. TCW seeks to replace rape culture with consent culture by educating youths about the importance of consent. We spark necessary conversations on consent, educate and enlighten the public about the damages of rape culture on our society. Most importantly we teach measures that must be taken to ensure that sexual violence and other behaviors associated with it are tackled and eradicated.

In an attempt to deconstruct the myths around rape culture one dialogue at a time, TCW has created a safe space to have these necessary conversations called The Community. TCW community is an online platform open to all conversations under rape culture, ranging from consent to victim blaming, slut shaming and many others. It will also be a medium for survivors of sexual abuse to share their stories.
